Interlec Pty Ltd secured a $497,630 contract to consolidate and upgrade electrical supply at the Cocos (Keeling) Islands' Light Industrial Area for the WA gover

JLL has been contracted to provide comprehensive property management services on behalf of the Western Australian Government Department of Housing and Works (DHW) for the Light Industrial Area (LIA) on West Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands. The LIA is a small (approx. 15,000 sqm) multi-purpose industrial complex located on West Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, comprising various operational facilities including multiple sheds, sea containers, workshop spaces, office facilities, and storage areas. LIA serves as a central hub for light industrial, logistics and commercial operations on the island, housing essential infrastructure and equipment necessary for ongoing operations and maintenance activities. The LIA currently operates with multiple fragmented electrical supply systems that have been installed over time without integrated planning, resulting in a complex network of distribution boards, transformers, and underground conduits. This fragmented infrastructure creates operational inefficiencies, increased maintenance costs, and safety concerns due to the difficulty of isolating specific circuits during maintenance or emergency situations. Recent comprehensive ground penetrating radar scanning conducted in April 2025 has identified the full extent of existing underground services, revealing numerous uncoordinated electrical conduits and distribution systems that require consolidation. We are seeking a skilled, suitably qualified, and experienced electrical contractor who is capable of undertaking the required electrical supply system consolidation and upgrade works in a remote island location. The successful contractor will be responsible for delivering the electrical infrastructure consolidation project outlined in Section 2 - Statement of Requirements and Specification in RFT.

Jones Lang LaSalle, on behalf of the WA Department of Housing and Works, awarded a $497,630 fixed-price contract via Open Advertisement to Interlec Pty Ltd. Five submissions were received.
