The world health organisation declared covid-19 a pandemic on 11 march 2020. The lotteries commission amendment (covid-19 response) act 2020 introduced temporary amendments to the lotteries commission act 1990 to enable the lotteries commission (lotterywest) to respond to the covid-19 crisis. The emergency period under section 3b(1) of the act be varied such that the emergency period ends on 15 march 2021. This declaration takes effect from the time it is made.
