Pursuant to Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, all owners and occupiers of land within the Shire of Northam are required to carry out fire prevention work by 1 November each calendar year and maintained until 30 April the following calendar year. Failure to comply may result in a penalty of $250.00 or prosecution with a maximum penalty of $5,000.
