Damages are defined in Schedule 2 of the Act. Section 7A of the Act provides a reference to the amount payable under an insurance policy. The Society has discretionary authority to specify a higher monetary ceiling. This Scheme will commence in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia and the Northern Territory on 1 July 2022. In the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia, this Scheme will commence as specified.
