Pursuant to Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, property owners and occupiers within the City of Stirling are required to remove flammable material and/or clear firebreaks by 30 November 2019, or within 14 days of becoming the owner or occupier after 30 November 2019, and maintain them until 31 March 2020. Details vary based on land size. Application for alternative action can be made before 14 November 2019. Burning off without written authorisation is prohibited. Penalty for non-compliance is a fine up to $5,000.
