The minister for environment classifies waters within the Ngari Capes Marine Park as recreation, general use, sanctuary, and special purpose areas. Certain recreational and commercial fishing activities are declared incompatible with specified conservation and recreational purposes within these areas, including Cowaramup Bay and Hamelin Bay Recreation Zones, and various surfing and shore-based activity zones.
