Pursuant to Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, property owners and occupiers within the City of Stirling are required to remove flammable material and/or clear firebreaks by 30 November 2018, or within 14 days of becoming the owner or occupier after 30 November 2018, and maintain them until 31 March 2019. Details vary based on land size. Burning off without written authorisation is strictly prohibited. The penalty for non-compliance is a fine of up to $5,000.
