This is a state planning policy prepared under Part Three of the Planning and Development Act 2005. It may be cited as State Planning Policy No. 5.4 Road and Rail Noise (SPP 5.4). The purpose of SPP 5.4 is to minimise the adverse impact of road and rail noise on noise-sensitive land-use and/or development within the specified trigger distance of strategic freight and major traffic routes and other significant freight and traffic routes.
