Under the powers conferred on it by the Local Government Act 1995, the Council of the Town of East Fremantle resolved on 16 May 2017 to make this local law, titled the Town of East Fremantle Repeal Local Law 2017. This local law comes into operation 14 days after the date of its publication in the Government Gazette and repeals twelve local laws related to rates, petrol pumps, rubbish, building lines, refuse, signs, vehicle wrecking, nuisances, litter, advertising devices, urban environment, and bee keeping.
