The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley declares a restricted burning period from 1st March to 14th January each year, including Kununurra and Wyndham Town sites, the Ord Irrigation Area and pastoral areas. Permits to burn are required and must be obtained from Fire Control Officers. Notice of intention to burn must be given to the Shire’s Ranger Services, adjoining landowners, DFES, and DBCA if near State Forest land, National Park, Nature Reserve or other DBCA lands. Bushfire Control Officers and Fire Weather Officers are appointed.
