In pursuance of the powers conferred upon it by the Local Government Act 1995 and under all other powers enabling it, the Council of the Shire of Esperance resolved on 24 January 2017, to make the following Local Law. This local law may be cited as the Shire of Esperance Activities in Thoroughfares and Public Places and Trading Local Law 2016.

Authorises general retail shops in Esperance to open during otherwise closed hours.
Requires landowners in the Shire of Esperance to comply with bush fire prevention measures between October 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
Appoints fire weather officers for various zones within the Shire of Esperance and cancels all previous appointments.
