🚢 Staged Demand Study for the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour Boat Lifting Facility
Summary
WA Department of Transport awarded Worley Services a $278k contract for a boat lifting facility demand study, addressing capacity issues and potential relocatio
Tender description
The Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour (FFBH) boat lifting facility is a key piece of maritime infrastructure supporting commercial fishing fleets, government vessels, ferry services, and larger recreational craft. The current facility is becoming increasingly constrained by various factors, resulting in reduced efficiency and capacity. Additionally, competing land sues pose a risk to long term viability. The Fremantle Harbours Master Plan recognises the importance of retaining a working boat harbour focused on the fishing industry and maritime services; however, the current boat lifter footprint has been identified for redevelopment, driving the need to relocate the boat lifting function. In this context, the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) seeks to engage a Contractor to undertake a staged demand study of boat lifting and servicing in Western Australia and to prepare a Study Report. The study will focus on small vessel lifting (up to 250 tonnes) and the supporting marine servicing, with detailed analysis of the Perth metropolitan and Peel network, Two Rocks to Mandurah, and a broader coastal assessment from Esperance to Exmouth.
