🚤 Design, construction and supply of a 7-metre amphibious patrol vessel, outboard engines and trailer
Summary
WA Department of Transport awarded Westerberg Marine a $660k contract for an amphibious patrol vessel for Kimberley marine safety, stationed in Broome.
Tender description
The Department of Transport has a requirement for the design, construction and supply of a 7-metre rigid hulled vessel, amphibious patrol vessel, complete with twin outboard engines and trailer. The vessel is intended for service on the Northwestern Australian coast conducting Marine Safety compliance throughout the Kimberly region. The vessel will be stationed at Broome. The vessel will be required to operate in isolated areas that are affected by large tides ranging between less than 1.0m and in excess of 10.0m. As a result, the vessel must be easily launched and retrieved at both low and high tides, taking into account the varying terrains of the areas of operation and the conditions that the various tides create, for example, very soft sandy beaches and large mud flats. Due to the tidal nature of the area and the lack of launching infrastructure, a vessel with an amphibious capability is essential.
