Under regulation 60 of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Regulations 2013, a quarantine area is declared in Fremantle, White Gum Valley, East Fremantle and North Fremantle due to the detection of Queensland fruit fly. Occupiers of land within the area must remove and dispose of ripening fruit every three days. Non-commercially produced fruit cannot be moved from the area unless cooked, frozen, or solarised. Failure to comply may result in a fine or remedial action.
