Under regulation 60 of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Regulations 2013, a quarantine area is declared in South Perth, Como, Kensington and Karawara until 24 July 2018 due to the detection of Queensland fruit fly. Occupiers of land within the quarantine area must remove and dispose of ripening fruit every three days. Non-commercially produced fruit cannot be moved from the area unless cooked, frozen, or solarised. Failure to comply could result in a fine or remedial action.
