In accordance with section 36(1)(a) of the environmental protection act 1986, the minister for environment directs the environmental protection authority to defer the completion of the review of the environmental protection (western swamp tortoise habitat) policy 2011 until the science informing the review of the western swamp tortoise (pseudemydura umbrina) recovery plan is made available. The review is to be completed by 30 november 2022.
