In accordance with section 36(1)(b) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, the Minister for Environment directs the Environmental Protection Authority to defer the completion of the review of the Environmental Protection (Western Swamp Tortoise Habitat) Policy 2011 until 30 June 2026. This is due to delays in drafting of the new draft Environmental Protection (Western Swamp Tortoise Habitat) Policy under Part III of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, to allow sufficient time for consultation on the draft, and to allow alignment with the review of the Western Swamp Tortoise (Pseudemydura umbrina) Recovery Plan.
