Pursuant to Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, property owners and occupiers are required to remove flammable material and/or clear firebreaks by 18 November 2017, and maintain them until 31 March 2018. Penalty for non-compliance is a fine of up to $5,000. Burning off is strictly prohibited.
