Pursuant to section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, property owners and occupiers in the Town of Cambridge are required, on or before 1 November 2026, to remove all flammable material and/or clear firebreaks according to specified land area requirements. These standards must be maintained until 31 March 2027. Written approval for alternative measures must be sought from the Town prior to 31 October 2026. Non-compliance may result in the Town entering the land to carry out requirements and recovering costs.
