The gas standards act 1972 stipulate that type a gas appliances must be approved by the director of energy safety before being sold, hired, advertised for sale, or installed. This document sets out the framework for the approval of individual or custom-built type a gas appliances by the director under section 13e of the act. The individual certification scheme is only appropriate in specific scenarios.
