These regulations are the Environmental Protection Regulations Amendment (Prohibited Plastics and Balloons) Regulations 2021. They come into operation in stages: Part 1 on the day of gazettal, Part 2 on 1 January 2022, Part 3 on 1 July 2022, and the rest on 1 October 2022. The regulations amend the Environmental Protection (Plastic Bags) Regulations 2018 and the Environmental Protection Regulations 1987, addressing disposable plastic items and prescribed drinking straws.
