The Minister for Planning and Lands has approved the declaration of Planning Control Area 196 for Scarborough Beach Road (Hinderwell Street to Odin Road and King Edward Road to Main Street) and the revocation of Planning Control Area 166. PCA 196 protects land for future widening and upgrade of Scarborough Beach Road. Development in a planning control area without WAPC approval carries a penalty of $200,000 and a further $25,000 per day for continuing offences.
