The council of the Shire of Waroona resolved on 28 May 2024 to make the Pest Plant Local Law 2024. This local law applies throughout the district. It defines pest plants and allows the local government to serve notice on landowners to treat identified pest plants. Failure to comply can result in the local government taking action and recovering the expenses from the owner or occupier. Offences under this local law are liable to a maximum penalty of $5,000.
