🏗️ Hamilton St and William St Grade Separations

AECOM Australia Pty Ltd secured a contract from WA's PTA for concept designs of Hamilton and William Street grade separations over the Armadale rail line.

The Consultant is required to undertake concept level designs for the grade separation of Hamilton Street, and William Street, over the PTA’s Armadale rail line. The Consultant’s responsibility shall include the following: Organise an initial start-up meeting to confirm the scope of works, project program, reporting requirements and project management arrangements, and collect all relevant data as per the supporting documentation in Section 8. Review of all previous studies and reports, as outlined in Section 8. Establish a stakeholder communications strategy, inclusive of the below key stakeholders: Public Transport Authority (PTA) Main Roads WA (MRWA) Department of Transport (DoT) City of Canning (CoC) City of Gosnells (CoG) Utility/Service Providers (as a result of the below item). Undertake a desktop services investigation (Dial Before You Dig), generate a clash detection register, and known services plan. Initial stakeholder consultation. The consultant will liaise with PTA before any stakeholder meetings and / or external information sourcing is arranged. The PTA Project Manager must also be invited to all stakeholder meetings. Concept design of the Hamilton Street, and William Street grade Separations, inclusive of the below: Road design (horizontal and vertical) including road safety barriers. Bridge and structures design. Desktop geotechnical investigation. Hydrology and drainage design. Traffic and transport provisions. Pedestrian and cyclist provisions. Environmental and social impacts. In development of the Hamilton Street grade separation, the below items will form part of the basis of design: Retain connectivity between Walton Street/Sydney Street/Edward Street and Hamilton Street. Provide a route for road users to access Railway Parade from Sevenoaks Street, and vice versa. In development of the William Street grade separation, the below items will form part of the basis of design: Retain connectivity between Bickley Road and William Street. Provide a route for road users to access Railway Parade from Sevenoaks Street, and vice versa. This should be undertaken after reviewing the 2013 Arup design and report. A shopping precinct development is proposed west of the William Street level crossing, falling on Lots 90, 391, 393, 395, 397, and 399. The details of this development will be provided by the PTA, and is to be used as input to the grade separation design. The PTA’s rail concept design and platform setout will also be supplied to the Consultant as part of the supporting documentation, and is to be used as input to the grade separation design. The proposed design outcomes are to be developed within the existing road and rail reserves, where possible. Undertake a Safety in Design (SiD) workshop, including all key stakeholders, prior to finalisation of the design outcomes. Generation of design drawings, inclusive of the below: Locality plan. Road plan and profiles. Typical road cross sections. Road cross sections at 50m intervals. Bridge cross section (including offsets/clearances). Bridge elevation. Bridge typical details. Drainage plans. Drainage typical details. Known services plan. Develop a construction staging strategy which will provide for the continued operation and use of the existing roads and rail services. Prepare a 15% level costing of the concept designs to enable budgeting for the detailed design and construction. Provide a design report including a comparison of the options investigated together with the estimated budgetary construction costs.

The Public Transport Authority awarded a contract valued at an estimated $208,452 via a Quotation procurement method to AECOM Australia Pty Ltd. There were 3 submissions in total.
