The council of the Town of East Fremantle resolved on 25 May 2017 to make the Plastic Bag Reduction Local Law 2017. This local law comes into operation 180 days after the date of its publication in the Government Gazette and applies throughout the district. It prohibits retailers from providing single use plastic shopping bags to customers.
