Pursuant to Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, owners/occupiers of land in the City of Melville must clear flammable matter by November 15, 2019, or within 14 days of becoming the owner/occupier, and maintain it until April 30, 2020, according to specified requirements. Exemptions can be applied for by October 31, 2019. Penalty for non-compliance is a fine up to $5,000 plus the cost of the work.
