Under regulation 60 of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Regulations 2013, a quarantine area is declared in South Perth, Bentley, Como, Kensington, and Karawara until 2 November 2018 due to the detection of Queensland fruit fly. Occupiers of land within the quarantine area must remove and dispose of ripening or fallen fruit every three days. Non-commercially produced fruit cannot be moved from the area unless cooked, frozen, or solarised. Failure to comply could result in a fine or remedial action.
